Devolver Digital will launch Volvy's Adventure: Reslimed on the same day as GTA 6 — for $4.99
The one publisher that won't run away
Every publisher in the industry seems to be dodging November 19, 2026 — except one. Devolver Digital has officially lifted the veil on the game it always promised would go head-to-head with GTA 6: Volvy's Adventure: Reslimed, developed by doinksoft and described in the official statement as the "spectacular remaster of the original remake of the action-platformer that never came out" (Xboxygen).
The release is set for November 19, 2026, on PC via Steam only — no console version. The price is the punchline: $4.99, with a 25% discount for preorders. In its announcement, Devolver couldn't resist a dig at Rockstar: players "with taste" can preorder Volvy's Adventure: Reslimed at a discount, "or buy GTA 6 for $100 like pigeons" (Xboxygen).
A provocation months in the making
This is not a spur-of-the-moment stunt. The publisher has been teasing the duel since May 2025, right after Rockstar confirmed the release date, answering with a simple: "you won't be able to escape us." More recently, when Kotaku noted during a State of Play that "all publishers fear GTA 6," Devolver replied in four words: "Not all publishers" (MSN/Kotaku).
The contrast with the rest of the calendar is striking: September is overcrowded with games fleeing the Rockstar launch, while November has been left almost empty. Devolver is deliberately going the other way.
What Volvy's Adventure: Reslimed actually is
Behind the trolling sits a real game. The adventure spans four fully reworked worlds filled with enemies and threatening bosses. To progress, players collect delicious onions to keep Volvy "at an absolutely extreme level of genius" — and eating enough of them transforms him into Swolvy, a mountain of muscles that smashes everything in a rage (Gamewave).
The moveset revolves around the character's oversized appendage: hovering over huge chasms like a helicopter, sliding on rails, dashing through the skies and punching deep underground, smashing obstacles to reveal secret passages. The story, as the team summarizes it: "Basically, wizards released a kind of slime and Volvy tries to stop them. Oh yes, they also kidnapped his friends" (Xboxygen).
Visually, every pixel has been redrawn and recolored by the original creators — who, according to the statement, are "no longer incarcerated." The redesigned post-level minigames come with a self-deprecating promise: they "no longer encourage children to smoke cigarettes!"
A welcome counterpoint
Volvy's Adventure: Reslimed is unlikely to threaten GTA 6's records — that was never the point. What it does offer is a cheap, absurd alternative on a day when most of the industry will be holding its breath. Whether the provocation translates into sales remains to be seen; the game's ability to steal headlines, on the other hand, is already proven.
