GTA 6 skips Orlando: no Disney World, no Universal and no Space Coast in Leonida
TL;DR

GTA 6 will not include Orlando, Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, SeaWorld or Florida's Space Coast. In its issue 382 cover story, published September 29, 2026, Game Informer put the question directly to Rockstar's senior vice president of environment art, Paul MacPherson: the studio « may not have those exact locations », he replied, while everything it does have is « geared to getting that f

The short answer: no, and Rockstar gave the reason itself

GTA 6 will not include Orlando, Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, SeaWorld or Florida's Space Coast. The confirmation is not a leak or an inference: it comes from Rockstar, in Game Informer's issue 382 cover story published on September 29, 2026. The magazine asked the studio's senior vice president of environment art, Paul MacPherson, whether central Florida and its tourist destinations — Orlando, Walt Disney World and Universal Studios among them — would be represented in GTA 6 in some form. MacPherson said they would not.

What MacPherson said, in full

The answer is a single paragraph of curation. « We have to constantly evaluate the diversity of landscapes, towns, structures, landmarks, vistas, plant species, rock formations and everything else before we work with design and narrative to distill a list down that best works with and serves the game's needs », he told Game Informer. « So, while we may not have those exact locations, everything we have is geared to getting that full Florida experience! »

IGN carried the exchange on September 30, 2026 under the headline « You Probably Shouldn't Expect a Disney World Parody in GTA 6 »; GameSpot and GTA BOOM followed on October 1. Four outlets, one source: the 14-page interview in issue 382.

What is in Leonida, and what is not

GTA BOOM broke the answer into two columns on October 1, 2026. In: Vice City, Rockstar's Miami; the Leonida Keys; Grassrivers, the Everglades stand-in; Ambrosia; Port Gellhorn; Mount Kalaga National Park. Out: Orlando and central Florida; Walt Disney World, Universal Studios and SeaWorld; the Space Coast; and Cape Canaveral with the Kennedy Space Center.

The second column matters as much as the first. GTA BOOM notes that none of Leonida's six confirmed regions covers central Florida or the Space Coast — the two areas the magazine asked about by name. It also frames the design as deliberate: Rockstar built a version of Florida, not a copy of the state.

Why skipping the theme parks is not a detail: the numbers

The resort Rockstar left out is enormous by game-map standards. Walt Disney World was founded on 27,443 acres — 43 square miles, or 111 km² — and still occupied nearly 25,000 acres (39 sq mi, 101 km²) by 2014, a footprint larger than Manhattan's 22.7 square miles, per Wikipedia. GTA V's map is commonly cited at 75 to 80 km². Leonida, which Aaron Garbut told Game Informer is about twice the size of GTA 5's, therefore lands at an estimated 160 to 170 km².

Do the division and the omission stops looking small. Walt Disney World alone is 1.26 to 1.35 times the entire map of GTA 5, and roughly 60 percent of the estimated surface of Leonida. Rockstar's Florida is not short of space; the theme parks are simply not part of the plan.

The state Rockstar compressed: roughly one eight-hundredth of the real thing

Florida's land area is 138,887 km², 53,625 square miles, according to the US Census figures carried by Wikipedia. Against the 160 to 170 km² estimated for Leonida, the game covers about 0.12 percent of the state it parodies — a ratio of roughly one to eight hundred. That is the compression at work: more than 170 animal species, six regions and one city for an eighth of a percent of Florida.

Distance tells the same story in a way players can picture. Downtown Miami and Orlando sit about 330 km apart as the crow flies; the middle of the Walt Disney World resort is about 322 km from Miami and 32 km from Orlando, our own calculation from their coordinates. By road the Miami-Orlando trip is 377 km and about four and a half hours of driving, per a lookup on the OSRM routing engine — a journey that, in Leonida, simply does not exist.

Why it might have been skipped — and what Rockstar has not said

GTA BOOM offers a reading Rockstar has not confirmed: Disney, Universal and NASA are, in its words, among the most fiercely protected brands and institutions in the United States, and building a whole region around a Disney-scale resort — or a launchpad coast tied to a federal agency — carries a different kind of legal exposure from parodying a burger chain.

The same article points out the door that stays open: an omission is not a ban. Rockstar has spent three decades turning real Florida into Vice City, and GTA 5 shipped its own funfair and film-studio lot without rebuilding a real park, so a knock-off amusement park could still surface somewhere in Leonida. IGN makes the narrower point that Rockstar « didn't rule out any specific locations ».

What GTA 5's landmarks looked like, for comparison

IGN's own comparison is worth keeping. GTA 5 let players explore the Venice Beach boardwalk, ride the pier's rollercoaster and turn on its ferris wheel — « and generally speaking, it wasn't anything to write home about », the outlet notes, adding that a whole park built around that level of interaction may not repay the development cost.

What Leonida puts in their place is wildlife. The cover story confirms a zoo among the places to visit, more than 170 animal species — over 60 kinds of birds and more than 30 land mammals — and ten named side activities from mini golf to scuba diving. The trade is explicit: a curated Florida of landscapes and creatures, without the two areas every tourist brochure leads with.

What is confirmed, and what is not

Confirmed by the studio, in the Game Informer interview of September 29, 2026: Rockstar selects locations by what serves the game, and the specific questions asked — Orlando, Disney World, Universal Studios, SeaWorld, the Space Coast — were answered with « we may not have those exact locations ». Confirmed elsewhere by Rockstar: Leonida's six regions and a map about twice GTA 5's, in Garbut's words, with everything « dialed up » and nothing compromised for scale.

Not confirmed: that a theme-park parody or a space-centre parody is impossible anywhere in the game, that the exclusions are permanent, or how the six regions actually sit on the map. Rockstar has still published no official map of Leonida, 49 days before the November 19, 2026 launch on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
