Vice City is back
GTA VI returns to Vice City, Rockstar's take on Miami and South Florida, set in the fictional state of Leonida. The Extended Look confirmed the skyline, the beaches and the neon-soaked boulevards that made Vice City legendary in 2002's Vice City.
What is confirmed about the map
- Scale: Rockstar describes GTA VI's map as its largest open world ever created — expected to comfortably exceed GTA V's Los Santos + Blaine County.
- Vice City metro: the city itself, with recognizable Miami-inspired districts.
- Airport: Vice City International Airport appears in the Extended Look — players spotted a Mammoth Patriot (classic military SUV) on the tarmac during the trailer.
- Wildlife zones: hunting and fishing return, with around 30 animals already confirmed across Leonida's rural areas — swamps, forests and coastline.
- Real-world links: the game's world is heavily inspired by Miami — some real Miami landmarks and even the airport's real-life expansion plans have been discussed in the community as influences.
Districts and areas hinted so far
Based on trailers, screenshots and Rockstar's official looks, expect at least: the downtown/business district, beachfront areas with resorts, the airport zone, rural Leonida with swamps and farmland, and possibly offshore islands.
How big will it be?
No official measurement exists, but community analyses of the Extended Look and Rockstar's own language ("largest world we've ever built") suggest a map in the range of GTA V's map plus significant expansion — enough for the 80-hour story to spread across city and countryside.
