GTA 6 has a race track: racing is a much bigger deal in the Extended Look
The rumor finally confirmed on screen
For years, fans speculated about whether GTA VI would feature an actual race track. The Extended Look — the 27-minute gameplay presentation released on Netflix and then YouTube — appears to settle the debate: the game has a real race track, and racing looks like a much bigger part of the experience than it ever was in GTA V (Jalopnik).
In GTA V, racing was mostly a side activity built around point-to-point street races. The footage shown in the Extended Look is different: a proper wheel-to-wheel race on a circuit, with race-prepped cars, a lap counter, a lap timer and a position display on screen, plus competitors visible on the mini-map (The Drive). The sequence appears around the 17:40 mark of the video — immediately after a strip club scene, a reminder that this is still a Grand Theft Auto game.
Race-prepped cars and real circuits
The cars on track are not street cars: most are visibly race-prepared. Jalopnik identifies a bewinged sedan clearly inspired by current BMWs like the 3 Series and 5 Series, complete with M-style graphics, alongside GTA versions of the Dodge Charger and Challenger, the Ford Mustang and the Infiniti G35 — all covered in sponsor stickers and liveries.
As for the circuit itself, Rockstar has not released the map yet, so the details come from the recent leaks. According to them, the track is called Gellhorn International Raceway, with a complex layout. The setting makes sense: Leonida is based on Florida, and the circuit is clearly inspired by Sebring — although, as The Drive notes, it is not a 1:1 recreation of the real Sebring International Raceway. The design also seems to pull from the Nürburgring, Le Mans and Monza. It is reportedly over three miles long, with at least one section where cars catch air. The leaks also point to drag strips and two oval tracks, at least one of them on dirt.
Street racing is not going anywhere
The Extended Look also shows that street racing remains part of the game. A later clip features heavily modified cars resembling an R32 Skyline GT-R, a Porsche Cayman, a Chevrolet Camaro, a Jaguar XE SV Project 8, a Ferrari SF90 and a Lamborghini Diablo, with underglow, exhausts shooting flames and a Need for Speed-style nitrous boost. Dirt bike tracks and a motocross course also appear — the same sequence fans have been freeze-framing for its dynamic mud and sand. There is even an in-game rideshare service called Ryde Me.
Racing fits the broader picture Rockstar is painting: a map twice the size of GTA V's, more vehicles, deeper customization and a world full of structured activities. The track name and layout remain unconfirmed — they come from leaks, not from Rockstar. What the Extended Look shows is that, this time, racing is a headline feature. GTA VI arrives on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19.
