GTA 6: vetted streamer ElRubius shares new details from Rockstar's early preview
A streamer who saw GTA 6 before the world
The 26-minute Extended Look may have shown more of Grand Theft Auto VI than Rockstar has ever revealed at once, but it did not show everything. Streamer ElRubius, who was invited by Rockstar to an early hands-off preview of the game earlier this year, has now discussed what he saw in his latest stream — and the details, relayed by GAMINGbible and summarized on Reddit, go well beyond the footage.
Combat and movement
According to ElRubius, backflips performed when jumping into water are now manually controlled in the air, in the same spirit as the aerial flips of Marvel's Spider-Man. Combat, meanwhile, is apparently more violent than anything in GTA V: the streamer says the game features full limb dismemberment during fights. Both claims remain unconfirmed by Rockstar.
A focus meter borrowed from RDR 2
One of the more surprising details concerns cigarettes. ElRubius says players can buy cigarettes, and that the smoking animation "actually lasts for a while" — unlike the quick inhalation in Red Dead Redemption 2. More interestingly, smoking fills a focus meter that acts like RDR 2's Dead Eye, suggesting the game keeps its slow-motion aiming ability under a new name.
NPCs with something to say
The streamer also described a denser, more talkative world. There is reportedly an interaction menu for any character in the game, with "way more dialogue lines than RDR2", and NPC density is said to be massive. He also confirms what many fans suspected: there will be no children NPCs in the game, for obvious reasons.
Vehicles: more like horses than cars
ElRubius says vehicles behave somewhat like the horses of RDR 2. Players can store heavy weapons and extra outfits in the boot of their personal vehicle, and can request that their car be delivered to their location using an app. Higher-end cars come with GPS trackers, so stealing one requires a trip to a mechanic to have the tracker removed. Using focus before stealing a car can also reveal nearby police officers and the vehicle's value. On handling, the streamer repeats what Rockstar's previews already suggested: driving combines the weight of GTA IV with the reactivity of GTA V.
Pawn shops and a TikTok-style network
Finally, ElRubius mentioned a few additional systems: pawn shops where stolen goods can be sold, and a TikTok-style social network in the game that players can use to find information depending on what is being broadcast.
What to make of it
Some of these features were hinted at in the Extended Look, but the streamer's account adds depth — and a handful of brand-new systems. As with all preview chatter, nothing here is officially confirmed by Rockstar until the studio says so itself. Grand Theft Auto VI launches on November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and GTA VI News will keep tracking every detail between now and release.
