GTA 5's Franklin actor cut ties with Kai Cenat over a broken promise — then said it was fixed

The short answer
Shawn "Solo" Fonteno — the voice and performance behind Franklin Clinton in Grand Theft Auto V — said he was done streaming with Kai Cenat, then walked it back a day later. The reason he gave had nothing to do with money, contracts or ego: it was a motorcycle that a child never received.
On the Dope As Usual podcast, in an episode recorded in September 2026, Fonteno explained that during Kai Cenat's Mafiathon 2 broadcast in November 2024 the streamer promised a young fan from a struggling Los Angeles family a bike — and, according to the actor, never made good on it (RockstarINTEL; Dexerto).
What happened on the stream
Fonteno had appeared on Cenat's subathon as a guest, then took him through the real Los Angeles neighbourhoods that inspired Los Santos, GTA V's fictional city. In one of those streets, the group met a family living in difficult conditions — Fonteno describes "probably 15 people living in a one-bedroom home" — and a boy who told Cenat he was a fan (IGN).
Cenat asked what he wanted. The answer was a motorcycle. The streamer's reply, as Fonteno recalls it: "We gon' make it happen" (Dexerto; Sportskeeda, which reports the child was seven).
"It was just a bike"
Nothing arrived. Fonteno says he called and texted for weeks, then got in touch with Cenat's circle — including the streamer Fanum — to push the promise through before Christmas, and was ignored. He put the bike at roughly $1,000 to $1,200 and says the child kept asking whether it was still coming (Dexerto).
What made it worse for him, he told the podcast, is that he was the one who had brought Cenat to that neighbourhood: the broken promise reflected on him. "I'll never do another stream with him again," he said, arguing that a creator with millions of followers can afford to keep a promise made to one kid (Dexerto; RockstarINTEL).
He also drew a line around the pile-on. Fonteno called Cenat "a good kid", said he did not want his own audience harassing him, and asked that the episode push the streamer to stop making promises he does not keep, rather than become a hunt (Dexerto). IGN notes the interviews that followed put the actor's position simply: "To me, that was not cool."
Fixed, in one Instagram comment
The clip circulated widely on September 15 and 16, and reactions turned against Cenat. Then, on September 16, Fonteno replied under the Dope As Usual clip on Instagram: "I just talked to Kai and it was an honest mistake and it's fixed. Thanks @kaicenat" (IGN; Sportskeeda).
That is where the public record stops. Neither the actor nor the streamer has explained what "fixed" means in practice, or confirmed whether the motorcycle was finally delivered (Sportskeeda). Rockstar Games and Take-Two have said nothing, and have no reason to: this is a story about a voice actor from a game released in 2013 and the ecosystem built around it.
Why this lands in a GTA feed in 2026
Franklin is one of the three playable protagonists of GTA V, the best-selling entertainment product of its generation, and its cast remains unusually visible thirteen years on. Fonteno has kept close to the community — his cousin Young Maylay voiced Carl Johnson in San Andreas, and the pair appearing together on stream was one of the reasons the GTA audience followed the Mafiathon segment in the first place (RockstarINTEL).
The timing is not incidental either. With Grand Theft Auto VI launching on November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, GTA content is at its highest pitch since 2013, and streamers sit inside that wave — the same audience has watched RP servers turn into a career path, and Cenat himself has already said he wants to be the first person to reach 100% completion in GTA VI (Sportskeeda).
For GTA V's Franklin, then, the story ended the way the actor wanted: with a conversation instead of a queue of angry replies. Whether the bike exists remains, for now, between the two men and one family in Los Angeles.
