GTA 6 Extended Look: 12 details the Cyberleek leaks never showed
What the leaks didn't show
For weeks, the anonymous leaker Cyberleek had been the only source of real GTA 6 footage. Then, on August 27, Rockstar answered with "An Extended Look" — a nearly half-hour gameplay video captured on a PS5 and premiered on Netflix. The two versions of the game are not the same, and Mashable's Alex Perry took the contrast as a starting point: a rundown of the things the official footage revealed that the leaks had not (Mashable).
The details that stood out
The most internet-friendly find is simple: you can pet a dog. Rockstar is adopting the contextual NPC interaction system from Red Dead Redemption II, with actions that vary from one situation to the next — and yes, the best one is petting a dog (Mashable).
The presentation also seems to confirm a morality system. At one point, a small demon-head icon appears in the corner of the screen after protagonist Jason does something, a hint that was only partially visible in the Cyberleek clips. Exactly how honor works — and what it rewards or punishes — remains unclear (Mashable).
Social media is a bigger part of the game than GTA V ever imagined. In one sequence, Lucia encounters a man doing "the trunk challenge" in a car she stole, and the screen shows an Instagram Live-style chat feed alongside her reckless driving. Whether it's mission-specific or a broader system is unknown (Mashable).
Lucia is playable — and the pair sticks together
The leaks almost completely ignored Lucia, Jason's partner in this Bonnie and Clyde-style story. The official footage corrected that: Lucia is very much a protagonist, with extended gameplay sequences of her own (Mashable).
The Extended Look also suggests Jason and Lucia will spend a lot of time together — gas station robberies, story missions, ambient moments in the open world. That's a real departure from GTA V, whose three protagonists rarely interacted. But they are not glued to each other: at one point the player zooms out to the map and switches from Lucia to Jason, who is far away doing something else (Mashable).
Missions and the rest of the checklist
Cyberleek never posted actual mission footage, as far as observers can tell. The official video did: toward the end, Jason and Lucia act as a security detail for a wealthy client, then fight off armed kidnappers (Mashable).
The remaining details form a grab bag of smaller confirmations: airboats through a fake Everglades environment, scuba diving, opening a fridge and drinking beer, interactive cigar smoking, a voice actor who sounds a lot like Stephen Root, a slow-motion aiming mode where enemy weak points glow red, and Lucia base jumping off a skyscraper (Mashable).
What it means
The gap between the leaks and the official footage is itself the story. The Cyberleek clips showed an unfinished, out-of-context build; the Netflix presentation showed the game Rockstar actually wants players to see — and filled in the human side the leaks had skipped, from Lucia's screentime to the small interactions that make the world feel alive.
