GTA VI pre-orders finally open in Taiwan: NT$2,320 Standard, NT$2,900 Ultimate, pre-load from November 12
Taiwan can pre-order GTA VI as of September 17 โ NT$2,320 for the Standard Edition and NT$2,900 for the Ultimate, the island's first official regional pricing after it was left out when global pre-orders opened on June 25. Both editions include the Vintage Vice City Pack and a month of GTA+, Standard buyers can purchase the Ultimate upgrade later, and pre-loading starts November 12, a week before
Yes โ Taiwan can pre-order GTA VI as of September 17
Grand Theft Auto VI went on pre-order in Taiwan on September 17, on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with no advance announcement from the game's local channels. Rockstar's release date is unchanged โ November 19, 2026 โ but the island now has something it had been missing since June: an official Taiwanese price and a pre-load date on the same page (CryptoCity; Yahoo News).
NT$2,320 for the Standard, NT$2,900 for the Ultimate
The local pricing is straightforward. The Standard Edition costs NT$2,320 and the Ultimate Edition NT$2,900 โ about US$72โ74 and US$91โ92 at current exchange rates.
That puts Taiwan's Standard below the US$79.99 American price, and the Ultimate within a few dollars of the ยฅ12,280 Japanese edition once converted, against US$99.99 and โฉ112,800 in the United States and South Korea respectively. The number Taiwanese players kept repeating is the simpler one: the Ultimate Edition stays under NT$3,000. "I thought it would break 3,000," one wrote; another shrugged that NT$2,900 is fine "for a game you'll play for hundreds of hours." The Standard took more criticism locally, with several players calling it pricier than they had expected.
There is also a practical objection worth recording, because it applies everywhere: GTA VI has no early access period for pre-orders. Paying in September buys you the pre-load, the pre-order items and a clean midnight launch โ not a head start.
Why the island waited almost three months
Global pre-orders opened on June 25. Taiwan was not among the markets that went live that day, and the island spent the summer waiting: local coverage at the time attributed the hold-up to the territory's age-rating procedure, with Rockstar publicly asking players to be patient while the process ran its course (4Gamers; cool3c). Nine months from launch, that is why September 17 is being reported locally as a moment of its own rather than a footnote to the global pre-order announcement.
Retro Pack, GTA+, and a Standard-to-Ultimate upgrade
Both editions carry the Vintage Vice City Pack for anyone who pre-orders or buys before November 20 โ a '55 Stanier, a dedicated garage, retro outfits and hairstyles for Jason and Lucia, and tropical weapon liveries. Both also include the month of GTA+ that came with pre-orders worldwide: one month, redeemable only on the account that placed the order, and it must be claimed before March 31, 2027 (Yahoo News).
The Ultimate Edition adds the upgrade package on top: exclusive vehicles with their own garage, exclusive revolvers and customised pistols for both protagonists, map-exclusive shops and customisation venues, an illegal cargo warehouse, and commissions to hunt down and restore abandoned classic cars (TOY PEOPLE). One detail matters more than the list: Taiwanese listings confirm that Standard buyers can purchase the Ultimate upgrade later, rather than re-buying the game at full price โ the reversible route Engadget recommended when pre-orders opened.
Pre-load on November 12, launch on November 19
Everyone who has the game on order can pre-load it from November 12, a full week before release (TOY PEOPLE) โ the same schedule Digital Foundry reported in July, and one that applies to the boxed edition too. Despite the disc-shaped box, the physical release in Taiwan contains a download code rather than a disc, the arrangement Rockstar settled on for the launch.
Two and a half months out, the Taiwanese pages are the last of the major regional pricing tables to be filled in. The game itself has not moved: PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, November 19, 2026, a rolling midnight unlock that runs timezone by timezone rather than on one global moment.
